Wind load generation for 1D-element

1D elements wind load generation including the dynamic influence by using Dynamic analysis is possible in case all of the following conditions are satisfied:

  1. Technical module No. 176 (Wind load 1D Elements ) is enabled;
  2. By using Wind loads generation wizard at least one element is defined as Pole;
  3. By using Wind loads generation wizard the CsCd grid (on press of "CsCd" button) set with the proper values.

 

Conceptual 1D element treated as an element which wind blowing surface width is equal to the width of the 1D element cross section width.

 

In case of 1D element has a tapered section property or defined as a composite element consist different sections, the overall effective wind blowing surface width should be defined by user. User defined overall effective wind blowing surface width should be set by using wind loads wizard parameter Av (qp,b). By default wind loads wizard parameter Av (qp,b) has a meaning of the average cross section width of the composite 1D element.

 

Wind load dynamic influence is taken in to account by background Dynamic analysis calculation, where parameters of fundamental frequency of cross-wind mode and equivalent masses are calculated. For the 2D case, such a calculation performed for the global X direction, while for the 3D case, for the global X and Y directions.

 

The wind-blowing angle should be set or defined by using grid, which is represented in the Winds load generator wizard. The wind blowing defined by the angle generates the global X and Y axis decomposed wind load components:

The wind load generation procedure will take in to account wind load applied on the nonstructural elements. Such a nonstructural elements should have defined the parameter of effective area (Aeff), is special dedicated for the calculation of wind load. The parameter(s) of effective area (Aeff) has to be defined using Non structural elements table and applied on the existing structure by using Non structural elements tab of the Loads wizard.
