Cross-section dimensions and axes

Axes and key dimensions of structural cross-sections in MatrixFrame®:

Symbols used:

x–x – axis along the member

y–y – axis of the cross-section

z–z – axis of the cross-section

u–u – major principal axis (when it does not coincide with the y–y axis)

v–v – minor principal axis (when it does not coincide with the z–z axis)

b – width of the cross-section

h – depth of the cross-section

d – depth of the straight portion of the web

t_w – web thickness

t_f – flange thickness

r – root fillet radius

r₁ – root fillet radius

r₂ – toe radius
