Effective corner forces
A well-anchored plate subjected to lateral load will develop tension support forces affected by effective shear forces , at the corners. On the other hand, a plate without anchors will lift off the supports. The Kirchhoff theory of the plates accumulates all tension forces near the corner to one concentrated tension force at the corner.
