Reinforcement graph

The Reinforcement graph is used for representation of data in the design charts for combined axial and bending columns.

Reinforcement graph in absolute units Reinforcement graph (kN):

Reinforcement graph (kN)

In the upper part of the graph are contained the data defined by the user and came from the General part:

  • Concrete name
  • Reinforcement type
  • Cover

N'Ed - the acting axial force directed perpendicular to the cross section of the column; the N'Ed value is defined by the user and came from the General part

Md - the acting force bending moment; the Md value is defined by the user and came from the General part

Attributive lines denote the percentage reinforcement (w0) and the reinforcement steel area (As) of the concrete cross section:

Reinforcement graph in relative unitsReinforcement graph (Relative):

Reinforcement graph (relative)

In the upper part of the graph are contained the date defined by the user and came from the General and Results parts:

  • Concrete name
  • Reinforcement type
  • Ratio D/h, where h is the length of the cross section (for circle section instead of h must be taken the diameter of circle), D is the distance from the edge of the compression zone to the reinforcement center:

The ratio of the acting axial force (N'Ed=1) and the resistance of the concrete cross section (fcd*Ac):

  1/(fcd*Ac),                                              (1)

N'Ed - the acting axial force directed perpendicular to the cross section of the column

fcd - the resistance of the current concrete type (ex. C12/15)

Ac - the area of the column cross section:

  1. for circle column: Ac=pi*d²/4, where d is the diameter of the circle
  2. for rectangular column: Ac=b*h, where b is the width of the rectangle, h is the length of the rectangle

The ratio of the acting force bending moment (Md=1) and the resistance of the concrete cross section for bending (fcd*Ac*h²):

1/(fcd*Ac*h²),                                           (2)

MEd - bending moment

Attributive lines denote the percentage reinforcement (w0) and the reinforcement steel area (As) of the concrete cross section:
