Horizontal elastic foundation constant

For the user defined elastic foundation system the horizontal elastic foundation constant (k_h) is a kind of manual input value.

Using q_c,gem or NVN 6724 choice, the horizontal elastic foundation constant (k_h) is treated as:

a) mean value of a cone tip resistance in the soil segment (soil table):

k_h = q_c,gem ≤ 5 kN/m³,

in case "q_c,gem" (method used in CAE Geotechnics) is selected;

or

b) recalculated according to NVN 6724:2001 (common to RFG:1985) as:

k_h = 3 ‧ q_c / D,

where:

D – effective diameter of the pile;

q_c - cone tip resistance of the soil diagram.
